Blog Post #4: Waterworks

Over the break, I had my goal in my head yet I had no intention. I wanted hot showers back, but then the same effects (having dry skin) came back again. I made a mental note of the time started and it was around 30 minutes. AGAIN! Unfortunately, I resorted back to old habits for a bit but I am motivated to change it around for good. I am going to set a timer and keep track of my progress again.

Heres how to adapt to a new habit: Willpower.

Having sheer willpower comes with a purpose. To start things off, by not having a desire to change old habits/ways you won't be able to find the strength you need to become motivated in the first place (1). Find the cause of the old habit and

  1. I agree that willpower is a big part of sticking with a habit. When you finish this post, will you explain the cause of your old habit of taking long showers? Also, I'm wondering if the dry skin is a result of taking too hot/long showers or a result of taking shorter showers... It's a bit unclear.

    1. Yes, I will.

      It is both. I found out taking long, hot showers are the result of having dry skin. The heat from the shower softens the skin, while soap strips away the skin's oil barrier. Without oil, the skin is unable to trap moisture leaving dry, itchy skin.

  2. i agree with what you said about willpower being a huge part of this when it comes to sticking to a new habit.
